How to download offline maps for remote trails
RidePal can store map style data and tiles around a trail so the map still works when you are out of cell range. Offline downloads are a RidePal Pro feature on both iOS and Android—the app may show the paywall if you are not subscribed.
iOS (RidePal for iPhone)
Download
- Open the Map tab.
- Tap a trail to open the trail detail screen.
- In the bottom bar, tap Offline (next to Save). If you are not Pro, the app will run the subscription flow first.
- In the Offline Maps sheet, choose how large an area to download. Presets are labeled in the app (from a tight radius around the trail up to a wide one); larger areas take longer and use more storage.
- Start the download and wait until it completes.
The sheet shows progress and lets you cancel an in-flight download.
Remove
Open the same trail, tap Offline again, and use the remove action in the sheet when that trail’s area is already downloaded.
Total offline storage for all regions is summarized in that sheet when data exists. There is no separate Offline Maps list inside the in-app Settings screen—management is per trail from this sheet.
Android (RidePal)
Download
- Open the Map tab.
- Tap a trail and open the trail detail view.
- Tap the Offline button in the bottom bar (Pro gated). The app downloads a preset region around the trail—the size is chosen by the app to match the standard default class used on iOS.
- Wait for the progress indicator to finish; you should see a confirmation when the download succeeds.
Remove
Tap Offline again on the same trail when it is already downloaded; the app removes that trail’s offline pack.
Practical tips
- Download on Wi-Fi before you leave service.
- Offline packs cover the basemap and related map data for the chosen area; other features may still need connectivity or account state as designed by RidePal.
- Delete regions you no longer need to free space.
